The Pune International Film Festival, which will step into its 8th year in 2010 has already sent out feelers to the media, film buffs, filmmakers etc,all thanks to its website. The Kolkata Film Festival,on the other hand, which is poised to kick start on November 10,is yet to update its site with the details and list of films at the festival, four days before the curtains go up. Just before this paper went to print, the only update the site showed is the announcement of the festival and the brief outline of the procedure involved in procuring delegate cards. Except that, most available links direct you to details of the 14th Kolkata Film Festival organized last year. The main display also shows links of the previous festivals. The sections Ninety years of Len and Remembering Ray,which come along side the 15th Kolkata Film Festival logo, were parts of the last film festival. Most other links like those that take you to the homage section, the centenary tribute section redirect you to updates from last year. The festival venue section also lists Priya cinema as one of the venues, where as the booklet issued to the press, says that the mentioned theatre is not a part of the festival this time.“It’s very difficult to procure booklets. One has to go all the way to Nandan to get the booklet that has all the information. It’s so much easier if the details of the festival are uploaded on the site at lest a week before it starts. Most film buffs plan out all the seven days according to festival timings,” rues Subhajit Lahiri, who never misses the film festival.
