The Left Front on Saturday urged the state government to hold an all-party meeting in seven days to decide on how the soaring prices of the essential commodities could be controlled.

The emergency meeting of all the Left Front parties was held today to decide on the protest programme on the price rise issue.

Front chairman Biman Bose said the Left parties will launch a civil disobedience movement in all the district centres till July 16 while they will do the same in Kolkata on July 17. State Industry and Commerce Minister Partha Chatterjee,however,said,“We are yet to get any such suggestion for holding an all-party meeting. We will think on the issue if we get any suggestion on this from other political parties.”
