A large number of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (medical) candidates demonstrated at the board office in Salt Lake and gheraoed its chairman today for not being able to see their ranks on the website.
Some students and their guardians also alleged poor evaluation and demanded to see the OMR sheets. The WBJEE results were declared a day ago.
According to the students,their roll numbers were showing invalid when trying to see their ranks on the website. It is surprising that many of us are facing the same problem, one of them said.
According to the board,13,772 candidates appeared for the medical examination. The board declared the rank list of 3,635 candidates for 2,105 seats. Students who have not got 50 per cent marks in medical have not been ranked.
Board officials had to call the police to bring the situation under control.
Bhaskar Gupta,WBJEE chairman,said,As per the Medical Council of India norms,a general candidate has to secure a minimum of 50 per cent marks and SC,ST and OBC candidates have to get a minimum of 45 per cent to get a rank in the medical course. This was mentioned in the brochure of the examination form.
