A woman was arrested on Monday for allegedly taking money to get a student admitted in Frank Anthony Public School in Kolkata. Jennis M Martin,a resident of Picnic Garden,was held on the basis of a police complaint,in which she was accused of taking Rs 1 lakh to get a child admitted to a school. But,when the child did not secure admissions,the parents demanded the money back,but she refused. Officer-in-charge of New Market Police station Sameer Gupta confirmed the arrest and said the women would be produced in court on Tuesday. According to the police,her relation with the reputed school in Kolkata is not known and investigation is being carried out to ascertainthe truth.
Ammunition recovered
The police recovered a huge cache of .25 bore cartridges and 5,000 rounds of ammunition from a vehicle intercepted at the crossing of Central Avenue and Sovabazar. The vehicle jumped a red signal and hit a van. The car occupants ran away leaving the vehicle behind. The police searched the vehicle and recovered the ammunition. Police said that the vehicle may have come from Munger in Bihar. The STF of has taken up investigation of the case.
