10-year-old dies at NRS,family blames hospital
The family of a 10-year-old boy who died at the NRS Medical College and Hospital on Saturday morning blamed the hospital of negligence. Pritam Goldar (10),a resident of Sodepur,was admitted to the hospital last night. He died this morning. The family has alleged the on-duty nurse and ward boy of being careless. The hospital has refuted the allegation but has ordered an inquiry.
Man flees with money from inside bank
A woman was robbed off Rs 17,000 cash from inside a nationalised bank in Behala in south Kolkata on Saturday afternoon. The bank had no security guards. According to police,Arati Banerjee (32) had gone to the Allahabad Bank,Behala branch,to withdraw Rs 50,000. As she was counting the money inside the bank a youth,who posed as a client,snatched a bundle of notes and fled.
Illegal rifles seized from KMC store
A special team of CID on Saturday seized five illegal rifles from a storehouse inside the water treatment plant of Kolkata Municipal Corporation at Palta on the eastern fringes of the city.
This is the second instance of illegal arms recovery from a government establishment.
