In times of slowdown, the big champagne and cheese fashion show is more or less extinct. Yet,Delhi-based designer Amit Aggarwal, yet to bloom on Indias fashion scene, unfurled a splashy spring summer show under his label,Morphe, which was launched in 2008. And thankfully, with a few fashion hopefuls save actor Harman Baweja, who showed up after the shoot of Anees Bazmees film Its My Life, the show proved to be a joyful romp sans the maddening paparazzi cameramen.
The Oberoi ballroom was converted into an oasis of white and the show began with the models in the act of undressing with a girlish glee behind a white shadow screen. A juicy green dress paired with slightly daring wedge heels made the first appearance on the ramp, followed by some wildly coloured gowns, big sleeves and tiny skirts. And giving the silhouettes a sharper edge were patterns of pretty embroidery. There were also some ultra-feminine dresses made with semi-sheer fabric, and bows placed strategically at the chest and waist that lent the outfits a sensual glamour.
I have a huge market in Spain,Milan and Paris. And we recently received news that Penelope Cruz picked up four outfits in Spain, said Agarwal,25. Baweja did a quick disappearing act before the show got over. He eventually gave into some reporters when they mobbed him.
