Fifty hour days and the World Economic Forum on a Swiss mountain in mid summer are two things PepsiCo’s chief executive Indra Nooyi says would matter. While the former is a leaf from a busy CEO’s wishlist, the latter is what she told a publication when asked what would it take for more women to attend the annual World Economic Forum meet at Davos. “It’s not very conducive to women, all the snow and ice. If it was a summer Davos, there might be more of us,” she added. Nooyi may have spoken half in jest but even if she was slightly poliltically incorrect, her observation is telling — only 16 per cent of delegates this year at the World Economic Forum were female. Naina Lal Kidwai,HSBC head in India pointed out that its something women of her generation are accustomed to. “In a number of the sessions I’ve been to on environment and finance, there have been no women on the panel and not many in the audience,” she told the publication.
