FWRI to host equestrian championship from March 8

The Army Equestrian Championship (AEC) and the 57th Kolkata Horse Show (KHS),to be hosted by Fort William Riding Institute (FWRI) will be underway from Sunday. The six-day event will be held at the Pat Williamson Polo Ground.

Lt Gen P K Goel,AVSM,VSM Chief of Staff (COS),HQRS Eastern Command will inaugurate the event,which promises to be a visual treat for the spectators. It is also a test of equine excellence and saddle expertise making it one of the most exciting sporting events in the yearly calendar.

Top riders,who have brought laurels to the country in international competitions,including the Asian Games would be seen in action at the event which is conducted under the aegis of the Equestrian Federation of India.

In addition to the riders from 61st Calvary,President’s Guards,Northern Command,Kolkata Mounted Police,Eastern Command, RVC Centre & College,ASC Centre (North),West Bengal Mounted Police,there will also be civilian riders of all levels and age groups.

The riders will be performing in nine disciplines — dressage,show jumping,three-day eventing,hacks (open & junior),shoeing competition,individual and team tent pegging (lance & sword),jumping successive relay senior,six bar open,and cross country.
