Chances are, even grandma doesnt try mixing fish and shukto together these days,so you havent been subject to the curious combination yet. But patrons of 6 Ballygunge Place are no stranger to such interesting food cocktails. Though the place, doesnt serves the maccher shukto or the aam diye murgi for some time now,it makes up for their absence with offerings like the mourola peyaji or gondhoraj bhetki. This Independence Day,which stretches into a weekend, the eatery has laid out an interesting Bengali spread for its patrons.
While the a la carte menu at the restaurant usually boasts of wonders like chingri maccher pur bhora fish roll and bhapa bhetki, the restaurant plans to serve just the special buffet on August 15 and 16. You kick start the meal with aam pora sharbat and graduate to luchi accompanied by begun bhaja and aloo dum. It is followed up with rice, maccher matha diye moong dal, potoler dolma with a vegetarian filling. The non vegetarians are spoit for choice as the fish and meat section treats you to kakrar jhaal, chitol maccher muittha, chingri malai curry and kosha mangsho.
You also pamper the sweet tooth with baked mihidana with rabri and roshomalai. We have no brought in much innovation in this buffet menu since we felt that on the occasion of Independence Day its best to stay close to our roots, says Partho Banerjee, manager of the restaurant.
The buffet is priced at Rs 400 plus taxes at the Ballygunge outlet and Rs 375 inclusive of all taxes at the Salt Lake branch.
