For the promised jobs

Relatives of government employees, who have not yet received jobs in Group D staff of Kolkata Police on “compassionate ground”,staged a demonstration outside the Writers’ Buildings on Wednesday demanding immediate jobs for the next of the kin.

Relatives of government employees, who have not yet received jobs in Group D staff of Kolkata Police on “compassionate ground”,staged a demonstration outside the Writers’ Buildings on Wednesday demanding immediate jobs for the next of the kin. Around 20 relatives send a deputation to the Chief Minister’s Office demanding jobs immediately, saying they have been waiting for at least 10 years since they were promised jobs.

Mausumi Chakraboty, whose husband died nine years ago, said she has been frequenting CMO for update when his kin will be getting a job in Kolkata Police. “I have met the officials of the home department also, but they could not tell anything substantial. They tell us to come later. Even when Mamata Banerjee came to power,we urged the CMO officials for an appointment but in vain,“ said Chakraborty.

The relatives even claimed that the government has failed to look into their demands. They have been visiting the Writers’ Buildings frequently, but without any result. “We want our jobs on the compassionate ground as promised. If we don’t get the jobs then we will continue to strengthen our protest,” said another woman, whose husband died five years ago and was promised job in Kolkata Police.
