The sanctioned grant amount will be utilized by Calcutta School of Music to purchase a Grand Piano. “The Calcutta School of Music approached us. It seemed they needed a grand piano and since they have been doing such a wonderful job of preserving Kolkata’s musical heritage,we were only too happy to oblige,” said Fujio Samukawa,Cosul-General of Japan,Kolkata. This is not the first time that the Japanese government has helped organization in the city. In the year 2008,a reputed Japanese language training school in Kolkata received a grant of Rs fifteen lakhs under the same scheme,and the granted amount has been utilized for the rehabilitation of the buildings of the school which has helped to promote Japanese culture and language.
