Financial statement incomplete: Asim

Dasgupta said the budget statement is ‘incomplete’ and does not elaborate upon important facts regarding revenue earnings and state’s fiscal management.

Former Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta on Saturday criticised the budget account statement presented by Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Thursday in the Assembly.

Dasgupta said the budget statement is ‘incomplete’ and does not elaborate upon important facts regarding revenue earnings and state’s fiscal management. He said there were several discrepancies in the budget statement and has no linkage whatsoever to the accounts presented by the minister. “There is no proper indication about the sectors where the government plans to collect extra tax and no inkling on the sectors where it plans to provide tax relief,” said Dasgupta addressing journalists at the Alimuddin Street.

Referring to the pension expenditure details provided by the government, the former minister said the government’s claim that it has increased 7 per cent allotment in pension expenditure is incorrect.
