As Durga Puja festivities kick off in West Bengal, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting intermittent light rain. While there is a possibility of scattered showers in some districts, the overall weather is expected to be conducive for pandal hopping and celebrations.

The highest chances of rain are anticipated in the districts of North and South 24 Parganas and East and West Midnapur. Other areas may experience scattered light showers.

The IMD has ruled out the possibility of heavy rainfall during the Puja days. The cyclone over the northern part of Gangetic West Bengal is gradually moving away, reducing the chances of significant rainfall in southern West Bengal.

Temperatures may rise slightly, but the evenings and mornings are likely to be comfortable. Scattered light rain is expected over hilly areas, with a rain warning issued for Cooch Behar, Malda, and South Dinajpur districts on Monday.

Kolkata will likely experience mostly cloudy skies in the morning, with improving conditions in the evening. There is a very slight chance of scattered light rain on October 11 (Ashtami) and 12 (Nabami).

The city’s minimum temperature on Monday was 26.4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum was 30.1 degrees Celsius.
