Dinajpur: Repoll in 2 booths today

The Election Commission has ordered repolls in two more booths North and South Dinajpur where polling was held during the third phase on April 30.

Repolls will be held in Booth 78 in North Dinajpur and Booth 136 (A) in South Dinajpur on Monday, said Debashis Sen,state Chief Electoral Officer. He,however,did not cite any reasons for holding the repolls in these booths.

In the meanwhile,repolls were held in six booths across three Parliamentary constituencies two each in Jhargram,Bishnupur and Darjeeling on Sunday. Over 80 per cent turnout has been reported at all booths,said Sen.

Opposition parties have demanded repolls in the Keshpur Assembly segment where they have alleged that widespread rigging had taken place. Sen said no formal complaint was received by him over booth capturing and rigging in Keshpur.

As for the remaining two phases,arrangements were being made to ensure adequate security.
