The National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD), Kolkata celebrated the Global Accessibility Awareness Day Friday by conducting a special seminar to raise awareness about global accessibility and the need for sensitising society about the rights of persons with disabilities.
State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Nilanjana Dasgupta and head of IIEST’s mechatronics department Subhasis Bhaumik also attended the seminar.
During the event, a series of activities, including slogan writing and poster competitions, a debate competition and a quiz were held for those in attendance.
The organisers also distributed free assistive devices to persons with disabilities. The programme’s coordinator Aratatran Patra said, “These activities showcase our commitment to making technology accessible and usable by persons with disabilities.”
