A day after Trinamool candidate from Serampore Kalyan Bandyopadhyay allegedly made derogatory remarks about Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattcharjee, the CPM decided to file a complaint on the violation of model code of conduct with the Election Commission.
I have heard that they are going to send a complaint but we have not received it as yet, said Chief Electoral Officer Debashish Sen.
CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury has said that the remarks were unfortunate. These remarks are worse than what Varun Gandhi had said, said Yechury.
Bandyopadhyay, meanwhile, said: Whatever I have said is true. The chief minister does not know anything about industries and talks about industrialisation. How have I violated the model code? People will decide in this election who is right and who is wrong.
CPM candidate from north Kolkata Mohammad Salim said he would file a complaint with the Election Commission against the Opposition parties using graffiti in his constituency about the MPLAD funds. Not only are the wall writings misleading, they have also mentioned Ajit Panja, who is not with us anymore, he said at a press conference on Saturday.
