Although the main focus of the CPM during its recently concluded politburo and the two-day central committee meet in Kolkata was on national issues,a lot of deliberations were held on restructuring the party’ organisations in Bengal including its wings for students, labour and peasants.

“The party’s Krishak Sabha and labour wings will continue to hold demonstrations against both the state and Union governments. In order to regain our support base,we are going to fight for people’s causes and concerns that affect them,” said Madan Ghosh,CPM state committee member and senior ‘Krishak Sabha’ member. The party is also planning several large-scale conventions and interactive sessions by senior state leaders to rejuvenate the morale of the supporters and members.

Since the Assembly elections results were declared in mid-May,there have been quite a few state committee meetings of both CPM and the Left Front at the party headquarters in Alimuddin Street.
