The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Nazmul Haque,CPM MLA from Kharagpur in West Midnapore. Nazmul,who is accused in a case related to recovery of firearms,is absconding. The officials from Kharagpur local police station had found firearms from the CPM party office at Sultanpur-Basantapur during a raid in presence of an executive magistrate on May 18. Following this,the police had arrested 10 persons. However,Nazmul had managed to escape from the party office. During the hearing,it was revealed that Nazmul was present during the raid and he escaped from the spot along with two other associates. Following the incident,the Kharagpur Police Station registered a case and Nazmul was named in the FIR. After the hearing,a Division Bench of Justice Amit Talukdar and Justice Raghunath Bhattacharyya rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Haque.
