Cong joins hands with former Trinamool allies

The state unit of the Congress on Friday announced its electoral alliance with People’s Democratic Conference in India and Party of Democratic Secularism.

The state unit of the Congress on Friday announced its electoral alliance with People’s Democratic Conference in India (PDCI) and Party of Democratic Secularism (PDS).

Both PDS and PDCI were earlier allies of Trinamool Congress and jointly took part in various political programmes. Speaking to mediapersons in Kolkata,state Congress chief Manas Bhuniya said: “We already have an alliance with the Trinamool,but to expand it and bring all democratic and secular forces together we have joined hands with PDS and PDCI.”

PDS leader Samir Putotundo and PDCI leader Siddiqullah Chowdhury were also present at the press conference. He said they will come up with a joint agenda in the next three days and will later announce modalities of seat-sharing agreement for the next Assembly elections.
