Probe into 2020 Coal Pilferage Case: Three ex-GMs, 4 ECL officials sent to 5-day CBI custody

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the alleged theft of coal from the mines of Eastern Coalfields Ltd, had arrested the seven on Wednesday.

Three former general managers (GMs) and four officials of Eastern Coalfields Ltd (ECL), arrested in connection with the alleged coal pilferage case, were on Thursday sent to five-day CBI custody by an Asansol court on Thursday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the alleged theft of coal from the mines of Eastern Coalfields Ltd, had arrested the seven on Wednesday.

The three arrested former general managers are retired general manager Tanmay Das, who was then chief manager and head of security; the then GM (Satgram) Sushanta Banerjee, who is now retired; and retired GM Abhijit Mallik.
