Bose: Left united on name change

Chairman of the state Left Front Committee Biman Bose on Thursday said all constituents of the Left Front agree on the need for a new name for West Bengal.

Chairman of the state Left Front Committee Biman Bose on Thursday said all constituents of the Left Front agree on the need for a new name for West Bengal. He said the front will present its views in the all-party meeting on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after a Left Front meeting at Alimuddin Street,Bose did not reveal which name the Left Front had finalised out of the several options being considered.

Speaking on the reorganisation of districts,he said: “The reorganisation of districts is a sensitive issue and affects people. Before the government takes a decision, the opinion of the people must be heard in all-party meetings organised at the district level,” Bose said.

He said decisions such as which blocks should constitute a sub-division or which police station areas should be included, must be taken only in consultation with them.
