Beniapukur rape case accused held

The main accused in the Beniapukur rape case,Mintu Vora,was arrested late Friday night from his residence in the same area.

He was produced at the court today and has been remanded in police custody till August 30, said J C Jana,OC,Beniapukur. He said the victim,who is from Mumbai,was in a state of shock and was kept at a home and might be questioned on Monday.

There has been no other arrest in the case. The police are also looking for the woman who had introduced the victim to Mintu at Sealdah Station and the friend whose place she was taken to that night.

The 18-year-old victim wanted to return after she had a quarrel with her uncle on August 23. Mintu assured her help and later drugged her and took her to a park on CIT Road,where he allegedly raped her.
