An inspector in-charge rank officer in Burdwan district of West Bengal Sunday abruptly left his police station and duty after writing a brief resignation letter addressed to the DIG,sources said.
Mihir Dey,working as inspector in-charge (IC) of Ausgram police station left it without informing anyone and only leaving behind a terse four-lined resignation letter, said district superintendent of police,S M H Mirza.
I have directed the Additional SP to visit Ausgram police station and file a report, Mirza said.
An officer entrusted with responsibilities cant act like this, there are procedures and rules. Dey had contacted me over phone and had informed me about some personal problems he was facing.
We have information that he was also not performing his duties. On several occasions, the DSP (Crime) and ASP had to rush to Ausgram from Burdwan town after law and order situation in the neighbouring Bishnupur area deteriorated, the SP said.
Mirza said he would send a report on Deys sudden move to his higher-ups and seek directions from them.
