6 held for smuggling arms

Six persons were arrested in the past week for smuggling firearms and ammunition into the state from Bihar.

The Howrah GRP,acting on intelligence inputs,cracked down on the arms dealers and arrested the six from Howrah-Jamalpur Express.

We have arrested six persons and seized firearms and ammunition last week after we conducted special drives to prevent smuggling of firearms and ammunition to the state before the elections, said Rabindranath Mukherjee,SRP,Howrah.

We conducted raids in Howrah-Jamalpur Express and seized eight firearms,26 rounds of bullets and six magazines and arrested six persons. All the firearms were made in Munger in Bihar.
