The Rajasthan government Thursday signed 111 memorandums of understanding (MoU) with a total value of Rs 40,550.99 crore to create direct employment for 82,840 people in various sectors.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent) Tourism and Culture Mahesh Sharma and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in the run-up to the Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit 2015, to be held later this month.

“Rajasthan is known for its tourism products like history, culture, hospitality as well as law and order. This makes it an ideal tourism destination. There is still huge potential for tourism in the state,” Sharma said.

Raje said that MoUs were signed in sectors like agriculture, industries, UDH, skill development and renewable energy, besides tourism. She said the endeavour of the government was to translate as many MOUs into projects on the ground. She added that the affordable housing sector was receiving good response in terms of investment.

In the agriculture sector, the CM said the government is also conscious of the importance of post-harvest management, warehousing, logistics, poultry and livestock feed and input manufacturing in supplementing farm incomes and creating jobs.
