Hours after Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar was arrested in connection with the SSC Hindi examination question paper’s alleged leak, a video has surfaced online showing party supporters  clashing with police officials as they escorted the BJP leader to a hospital in Palakurthi for a medical check-up.

The Telangana BJP chief was taken into custody in a late-night operation on Wednesday. Sanjay said that his arrest was an attempt by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Government to disrupt the arrangements being made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Telangana on April 8 to flag off the Vande Bharat Express from Secunderabad to Tirupati, and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 10,000 crore.

He was brought to Palakurthi Government Hospital for a check-up on Wednesday morning. The BJP leader will be produced before a court in Warangal later in the day. Soon after the checkup, Sanjay was taken in a police van to Wardhanpet Police Station. Thousands of BJP workers are holding protests across the state against his arrest. Meanwhile,  BJP leaders are calling for a bandh on Thursday in Telangana.

The BRS accused him of “orchestrating” the SSC question paper leak on Tuesday. Kumar has so far been at the forefront of the BJP’s attacks on the BRS government over the leaks, accusing relatives of the CM’s family of being involved.

There is no basis for his arrest which is illegal. The BRS party is scared of BJP and wants to disrupt the PM’s programme later this week,” BJP General Secretary Premender Reddy said.

Earlier, the SIT probing the case had summoned Kumar to appear before it on March 24 and have his statement recorded and furnish proof regarding his allegations. The BJP chief had hit back at the time saying that instead of summoning him to produce proof, the SIT should investigate the matter and find the truth
