38 Chhattisgarh Maoists surrender in Telangana

The Telangana Police launched a massive combing operation after three Greyhounds commandos were killed in a landmine blast in Mulugu this week.

Thirty-eight members of the banned CPI(Maoist) surrendered before the Superintendent of Police of Bhadradri Kothagudem in Telangana on Friday. All of them hail from the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.

Police said 16 militia members, 7 village committee members, 6 Krantikari Adivasi Mahila Sangathan members, 3 Chetna Natya Manch members, and 4 Guerrilla Regimental Division members were among those who surrendered.

“They gave up arms after coming to know of the welfare measures being taken up for surrendered Maoists and efforts under Operation Cheyutha programme,” said B Rohit Raju,  SP Bhadradri Kothagudem in Telangana.
