Heavy rainfall is expected in North Bengal districts from August 11 to 13 due to a low-pressure area forming over the Bay of Bengal, prompting the IMD to issue a red alert. While South Bengal will also see rain during this period, it is expected to be light to moderate.

As per the IMD’s bulletin, “… Several North Bengal districts (are) under an orange alert, including Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, and Cooch Behar. These districts are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall (7-20 cm) at isolated places from 11 August 2025 at 1 pm until 8:30 am on August 13, except Jalpaiguri, which is under a red alert for tomorrow (August 12).
