Social media post sparks protests across Goa
Police said a cyber team has been constituted to investigate the alleged defamatory post on Instagram. Police sources said one person was detained from Valpoi in connection with the case on Saturday evening.

Tension prevailed in Goa on Saturday after people protested and filed complaints at multiple police stations seeking strict action against an unidentified person who had posted an allegedly objectionable comment on the Prophet on social media.
Police said a cyber team has been constituted to investigate the alleged defamatory post on Instagram. Police sources said one person was detained from Valpoi in connection with the case on Saturday evening.
According to sources, after the purported objectionable post was shared on Instagram, a group of around 100 people staged a protest at South Goa’s Margao police station on Friday night. Police said the protesters dispersed after getting assurances from police that an enquiry would be conducted. On Saturday, protests were held at police stations in Panaji, Ponda, Mapusa and Margao.
