A 21-year-old man from Karnataka was arrested for allegedly raping his partner’s friend at a resort in North Goa, the police said Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday. The police said a 19-year-old woman and her female friend had gone to a resort for a picnic, where the accused man joined them.
The police said on the day of the alleged incident, the accused, who works as a taxi driver in Karnataka, sent his girlfriend out for an errand and went to the complainant’s room, where he allegedly forced himself on her.
Nidhin Valsan, SP North, said the woman initially did not report the incident and later shared her ordeal with her elder sister. “A complaint was lodged with the police on Tuesday, following which a case under Section 376 (rape) of IPC was registered. The accused has been arrested. Further investigation is on,” said Valsan.
