Woman held for kidnapping 3-year-old boy

A 37-year-old woman,Urmila Srivastava,was arrested on Tuesday for kidnapping a three-year-old boy to give to her niece and her husband,a childless couple,married for 13 years.

A 37-year-old woman,Urmila Srivastava,was arrested on Tuesday for kidnapping a three-year-old boy to give to her niece and her husband,a childless couple,married for 13 years. The child was rescued by the West Delhi police. Urmila’s niece,Sunita (32),and her husband,Mahipal (36),were also arrested.

Gulshan Khan,a resident of Hastsal in Uttam Nagar,had complained to police that his son Mohammed Jisan was kidnapped from near his house on January 11.

During investigations,Sandeep,a fruit vendor,told police that on the day the child had gone missing,he had seen a woman taking Jisan along with her saying that he was her neighbour’s child.

“Sandeep was briefed to remain vigilant and to inform police as and when he came across the woman again. On Monday,he saw the woman and informed police,following which Urmila was arrested,” said ACP (West) V Renganathan.
