Within hours, Delhi witnesses 3 murders; police look for motive in 2 cases

Two of the three murders reported across Delhi on Saturday involved fatal stabbings, the police said.

Delhi witnessed three murders within a span of a few hours early on Saturday morning, all under different jurisdictions, the police said. Two of the three incidents involved fatal stabbings, and the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two of the victims are unclear, the police added.

In the first case, the Seemapuri police station received a call at 12.14 am reporting a stabbing in Bangali Basti. The victim, Nafiz, 22, was allegedly attacked by five members of a family following a dispute over money exchanged at his shop, the police said.

“The brother-in-law of the deceased said Nafiz was beaten and stabbed with a pointed weapon, like a screwdriver, on the left side of his abdomen. The single stab wound was fatal,” Prashant Gautam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shahdara, said.

Nafiz’s brother-in-law, Muzaffar, lodged a complaint, following which a murder case was registered. All five accused have been arrested, the police said, identifying them as Sohal, 20, Sekh Islam, 27, who allegedly stabbed the victim, Nadem, 43, Salma Begum, 55, and Mamuni, 32.

In another case, at around 4.35 am, a police patrol from Badarpur police station found an unconscious man bleeding from the back of his head near the Badarpur bus stand. The man was shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre, but was declared dead on arrival. The deceased was later identified as Makbul Akram, 20, a resident of Shyam Colony in Faridabad, originally from West Champaran, Bihar, the police said.

The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, the police said, adding that they were investigating the case.

Later, the police in Outer North Delhi responded to a murder in Nangal Thakran. A 30-year-old man, Mohit, was found dead with multiple stab wounds to his throat, chest, and stomach, the police said. The motive remains unknown, and the case is being investigated, the police added.
