On Friday evening, the city’s social circuit descended on the tiny courtyard of the Olive Bar and Kitchen,Mehrauli, for the launch of Swiss watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new collection. An added lure was the chance to meet and greet the brand ambassadors, actor Hrithik Roshan and his wife Suzanne. But as the minutes ticked by,there was no sign of the star couple and though the organisers blamed “flight delays”,there was still a significant crowd when the actor and his wife breezed in three hours late. They were immediately whisked away so the fashion show, with models displaying the timepieces, could begin.

“The collection on display was the Le Lierre, comprising a necklace and a pair of earrings, the diamond encrusted Reverso Squadra Lady wristwatch and the Queen of England’s favourite watch the 101 Manchette,” informed Jerome Lambert,CEO,Jaeger-LeCoultre. Suzanne herself brandished a Le Lierre watch, worth Rs 20 crore, with 12,000 semi-precious stones. “It is such a lovely piece that I would love to take it home,” she gushed. Hrithik piped up: “I think that was directed to me.” He confessed to not having “a taste for wristwatches, but shared his wife’s enthusiasm for the collection.

After ceremoniously posing for photographs, the duo vanished under the cover of the dim lights into their private enclosure with their guests. The watches are available at the brand’s outlet in DLF Emporio,Vasant Kunj and are priced between Rs 21 lakh and Rs 21 crore.
