After a couple of days of chill coupled with fog and light showers, the day temperature rose four notches on Tuesday to give respite from what the weatherman calls cold day conditions. Tuesdays maximum temperature was recorded at 18.1 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal Mondays day temperature was recorded at 14 degrees Celsius, eight degrees below normal, and the lowest so far this season.
On Tuesday,Western Disturbances moved east and allowed sunshine in North India.
According to the weatherman, with the cloud cover gone, the minimum temperatures will most likely dip. The moisture usually helps to hold heat and make nights warmer, but as days become dry the heat gets dissipated.
Met officials expect the minimum temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday to be 7 degrees and 5 degrees, respectively. The days will remain clear.
At IGI,runway back to normal: The main runway of IGI Airport on Tuesday became fit for operations in dense fog, using CAT-III B Instrument Landing System, after a new runway visibility measuring instrument was installed on Monday, three days after the old one went unserviceable, reports PTI.
The Runway Visual Range (RVR) measuring instrument was replaced yesterday (Monday) and from today,ATC is receiving the real-time data about visibility at the Dwarka side of the main runway. So runway 28/10 has now become fit for operations in CAT-III B conditions, Director of IGI Airport Met Department R K Jenamani said.
But the instrument would be tested only when dense fog envelopes the airport and visibility drops to zero,he said, adding that the faulty cables have also been replaced. Flight operations remained normal on Tuesday as the airport saw a clear sky.
