Underpass under construction collapses in Gurgaon, labourer dead

The victim’s brother has lodged a complaint against an engineer and contractor, police said. The underpass was near railway gate crossing 26 in Dhanwapur and was a project by the Public Works Department and the Railways.

According to police, “Around 5 pm on Thursday, the framework was broken during the construction work in an underpass near Dhanwapur village. There were 10 labourers working there, out of which a labourer named Guddu died after being buried under the setting. The deceased was a resident of Barora village in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal. All other workers are safe,” police said.

“In this regard, on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, action is being taken against the contractor and engineer concerned at Rajendra Park police station under relevant sections,” police said.

Deepak Kumar, Chief Public Relation Officer of Northern Railway, said the accident will be investigated. It will be ascertained in the investigation that where the negligence was done, action will be taken on the basis of the report, he said.
