Two get life for murder of woman

A city court on October 31 sentenced a man and a woman to life imprisonment for the murder of the woman’s mother in 2010.

A city court on October 31 sentenced a man and a woman to life imprisonment for the murder of the woman’s mother in 2010.

The court ruled that the two were teenagers at the time of the incident and hence, were not mature and had lost their self-control. Ruby and her boyfriend Vicky strangled her mother to death when she objected to their marriage.

“The offence of the convicts is quite grave. However, this fact cannot be ignored that convicts were just 18-19 years old at the time of commission of offence. Thus, even though they were major, they were not so mature to understand the consequences of their act,as they lost their self control and committed the act because they were of the view that their marriage would not be solemnised,” Additional Sessions Judge Sanjeev Kumar held while awarding the sentence.

“Prosecution has been able to prove beyond reasonable doubt that both the accused persons in furtherance of their common intention have committed the murder of Ishwanti…,” the judge held while convicting the duo.
