Despite the expressway not being operational, police said its entry and exit points are open. The Delhi–Dehradun Expressway is scheduled to open in October.

Two men died on Wednesday while one of them was performing stunts on a motorcycle on the under-construction Delhi–Dehradun Expressway near Tronica City at Loni in Ghaziabad, police said on Friday.

The Tronica City police identified the deceased as Rohit (31), a resident of Delhi’s Karawal Nagar and Subodh (42), a resident of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.

Subodh, who worked as a teacher at a private school in the Capital, was heading home in Baghpat to spend a long weekend with Sanjay Sharma, his acquaintance. Sanjay, who is also from Baghpat, was riding pillion and sustained injuries in the accident.

Police said the two men collided with Rohit’s bike who had allegedly entered the expressway to shoot videos for a reel.

“The incident took place around 9 pm when Rohit was performing stunts for reels. The three men were rushed to a hospital, where two of them were declared dead,” said Sarvan Kumar, Station House Officer of Tronica City police station.

In a purported video, Rohit can be seen riding the motorcycle without a helmet and Subodh’s bike coming from the opposite direction.

“Rohit, who was standing on the bike, lost balance after crossing a rumble strip on the road, causing the two bikes to collide. A fourth person was recording the video,” Kumar added.
