Trader robbed of Rs 22 lakh at gunpoint

According to police, the incident was reported at 4 pm.

A 42-year-old commission agent was allegedly robbed of Rs 22 lakh at gunpoint in his office in Central Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on Monday evening by four armed assailants.

Investigators claim that there is a possibility that the accused were keeping track of Mukesh Kumar’s movements and knew exactly when he would be in his office with such a large amount of cash.

According to police, the incident was reported at 4 pm. The armed assailants barged into Kumar’s office located on the second floor of a building in Naya Bazaar,Lahori Gate. Kumar was in his office with three other employees.

Police said they walked in and while one struck a conversation with Kumar, asking him about the rates of certain spices and products, the other three assailants went up to the other employees.

Within seconds, one of them signalled to the others and the four whipped out pistols and pointed them at the three men in the office.

The man who held his gun to Kumar’s head threatened to kill him if he didn’t hand over the cash to them, police said. Kumar handed over Rs 22 lakh and the four walked out of the building without being stopped.

The men,according to police,were unmasked.

Police said the office or the streets outside are not under CCTV surveillance. Police are investigating the role of Kumar’s business rivals and other angles.
