Third Time Lucky?

When the makers of Coke Studio @MTV put the Season 1 debacle (it was dominated by Bollywood tunes and lacked any freshness) behind them to give Indian audiences a phenomenal Season 2, reintroducing the much-maligned Indian avatar of the popular Pakistani series,the expectations for the third series went through the roof.

This year,the creators of the show are leaving no stone unturned to design a more interesting Season 3 with “Leap Frog to Coke Studio @MTV”. As a precursor to Season 3,the show will collaborate with Blue Frog to select bands playing independent music. The show is inviting entries of original compositions from various bands over the coming month,out of which 24 will be chosen by a select panel. The top 24 bands will then battle it out at Blue Frog in Delhi and Mumbai. The ones selected will be a part of the final series. Amit Trivedi,Clinton Cerejo and Hitesh Sonik,who were the main music producers last year,will continue their run this year as well,while popular singer Papon,the lead vocalist of Papon and the East India Company,will join in as one of the producers. The complete line-up of the producers will be announced soon.

Will it be a shot of Coke,yet again? We will have to wait and see.
