A woman fell off Karkari Mor flyover in East Delhi while trying to fight off two bike-borne persons,who were trying to snatch her bag. The condition of the woman,Madhumita (27),is said to be stable. The police said that Madhumita,a resident of Madhu Vihar A Block,was returning after completing her shift at a Laxmi Nagar call centre around 6.30 pm. That was when the two persons tried to snatch her bag. When she resisted,the strap snapped and she fell off the flyover, said IB Rani,Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).

Two arrested at airport for smuggling contraband

Customs officials at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport have arrested two frequent flyers for trying to smuggle prohibited items in commercial quantities into the country.

While a passenger from Hong Kong,Seetal Bhardwaj,was caught with 76,000 branded button cells used in watches and 20 German fuel pumps for cars,valued at Rs 18 lakh,the other passenger,Gurmeet Singh,also coming from Hong Kong,was nabbed with over 8,000 memory cards packed in eight polythene packets.

Police apprehend three for credit card fraud

Three members of a gang,which was involved in credit card fraud,were arrested on January 13,the police said on Saturday. The three,along with an employee of a Croma outlet in Saket,had fraudulently purchased articles worth Rs 3.5 lakh by using a fake Amex credit card registered in the name of a leading South Delhi jeweller,they added. The accused are Neeraj Mangal (26),Chander Mohan Rawat (29) and Amit Sharma (30). Another accused,Gaurav,is absconding.

Murder case: Cops recover photo,ask public for help

A fortnight after a girl was found murdered in a Southwest Delhi locality,the Delhi Police on Saturday released the photograph (in pic) of an unidentified man it recovered from the scene of the crime. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced for anybody who can identify the person. The teenage girl,who had gone to celebrate the New Year with her friends,was murdered in Dwarka on December 31. The public may provide information to the SHO (Dwarka North) on 8750871022 or to the Control Room (Southwest district) on 011-28042979.
