Teenager beaten to death in Anand Vihar after altercation

A 15-year-old boy was killed in Anand Vihar Tuesday, allegedly after being attacked by another teenager with a wooden stick.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said they recorded the statement of the victim’s eight-year-old cousin, who was with him at the time. According to the child, he, the victim and a friend were walking to a temple “to eat at a bhandara” around 1 pm when they got into an altercation with a boy.

“As the matter escalated, the accused picked up a wooden stick and allegedly struck the victim several times on the head from behind,” the DCP said.

The victim fell to the ground and the attacker fled the scene, the cousin told police, adding that the victim was rushed to Headgwar Hospital. Police said the doctors declared the 15-year-old dead on arrival.

“An investigation is underway and efforts are being made to nab the suspect,” said DCP Gautam.
