A 43-year-old woman and her aide have been arrested for allegedly murdering a businessman whose decomposed body was found from a rented flat in Bindapur,Southwest Delhi, earlier this month. The murder was allegedly inspired by an episode of the famous TV serial CID.
According to police, the woman,Krishna, had hired Rakesh Govind More (35) for Rs 1.5 lakh to kill her boyfriend Somnath Suverna. Krishna separated from her husband in 2005 and had been staying in Mumbai with her two children.
She met Suverna in Mumbai. The two had a dispute over financial issues. Krishna claimed she wanted to eliminate Suverna because he was constantly demanding money, said A K Ojha,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest).
According to police,Krishna travelled to Delhi with Suverna on June 8. More also travelled in the same train in a different coach. On reaching Delhi,More approached a property dealer as Raj Kumar and rented a room in Mansa Ram Park in Bindapur. Krishna came to the house two days later with Suverna and mixed sleeping pills in his curd and whisky. More was already present there and as soon as Suverna became unconscious, the accused strangled him, Ojha added.
The accused also poured toilet cleaning acid on the victims face to disfigure his face and fled to Mumbai.
The murder came to light after neighbours informed the police about blood at the rented room. Police found Suvernas decomposed body.
