A mobile tower is put into use till the original tower is re-erected. Officials said it will take time to permanently rebuild the damaged towers.
The Delhi Transco Limited (DTL) on Wednesday said the last of the damaged lines, the single circuit 220 KV Bamnauli-Pappankalan transmission line, has been now been energised using the Emergency Restoration System (ERS).
In ERS, a mobile tower is put into use till the original tower is re-erected. Officials said it will take time to permanently rebuild the damaged towers.
“The power supply in certain areas of west Delhi had been affected in the aftermath of the heavy storm last Friday and some transmission towers on the Bamnauli-Pappankalan line were damaged. Though DTL carried out the restoration work and diverted the load on some other lines, the power supply was affected for some duration at the time of peak demand. Now, DTL has energised the affected line using ERS,” a DTL spokesperson said.
DTL said that even though supply has been restored in all areas using emergency and temporary measures, marginal rotational load shedding in west Delhi, particularly in the Dwarka area, during peak load period “cannot be ruled out to avoid overloading and damage to the temporary arrangement”.
Three lines were affected because of the storm last week. These lines, all with a 220 KV capacity, were the Mandola-Gopalpur line, Bawana-Rohini line and Bamnauli-Pappankalan line.
While the Mandola-Gopalpur line was energised on June 1, the load of Bawana-Rohini line has been diverted on other lines. “Now, with the restoration of Bamnauli-Pappankalan line using ERS, the power supply in Delhi has been normalised,” he said.
A powerful dust storm had struck the city last Friday, severely damaging the entire power transmission network in Delhi and neighbouring states. At least 14 people were killed in the NCR region.
