Stock trader alleges rape

The incident,as reported by the victim,occurred at a house in Hauz Khas Village on Monday. The accused persons have been identified as Shanu Dhingra and his friend Sumit,both in their early twenties. While Shanu is doing his graduation from IGNOU,Sumit has completed his diploma in textile designing and is looking for a job. They have been booked under Sections 376 (rape),328 (causing hurt by means of poison,etc with intent to commit an offence),506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

Officials said that the victim,who lives in a rented accommodation with her brother and sister-in-law in Rohini area,came into contact with Shanu three months ago through Internet chat. “While chatting online,they became friends and she fell in love with him. They also started having virtual sex through webcam and it was during on of these sessions that Shanu took semi-nude photographs and started blackmailing her. On December 1,he called her near Kashmere Gate and demanded money in return for not releasing the photographs on the Internet,” said an officer.

“The victim paid him Rs 1.6 lakh in two instalments in separate accounts of the Punjab National Bank,which belonged to Shanu’s friend and his father. But the accused did not stop. He continued blackmailing her,” said the officer.

On Monday,the accused asked her to meet him at the Kashmere Gate Metro Station,promising to return all her photographs.

“He took her to Green Park by Metro and from there to a house in Hauz Khas Village,where Sumit was waiting. Sumit welcomed the woman,then offered a soft drink laced with sedatives. After consuming the soft drink,she was rendered semi-conscious. The duo then forced her to drink liquor,after which they took turns to rape her — allegedly filming her at the same time. She was raped the whole night,” said an officer.

Around 11 the next morning,the accused made her sit in an auto and dropped her at the Kashmere Gate Metro Station. Then they threatened to release the video footage of the rape in public if news about the rape was disclosed to anybody.

A medical examination confirmed the rape.
