Society’s building blocks

There is no dearth of problems in our society. The society needs a revolution rather a much-awaited revolution that helps people get rid of these problems.

Quest is a project conducted by The Indian Express in schools in and around Delhi.

Pandit Nehru once told the children of India,“Our country is a very big country and there is a great deal to be done by all of us. If each one of us does his or her little bit, then all this mounts up and the country prospers and goes ahead fast.” On the eve of Children’s Day,Quest asks our young readers about their role in society building. Can the young brigade be the harbingers of change?

There is no dearth of problems in our society. The society needs a revolution rather a much-awaited revolution that helps people get rid of these problems. Children can be the trailblazers in eradicating the problems that have stymied the country’s progress.

Children can spread the message of ‘Gandhigiri’ through street plays, rallies, and marches which will help instill civic sense in people. Children can make short films/documentaries depicting various blotches of the society like child labour, child abuse etc. Children can also persuade their parents not to take or give bribe.

Children can take out a mass clean-up drive to address the problem of cleanliness and with the collaborative effort of the municipal body, they can even take out a plantation drive and plant various trees. Children can take the help of the media, which is considered to be the fourth estate which props the edifice of democracy in bringing about the aforesaid changes and establishing an ideal society which is worth living in. Therefore, the onus is now on the vivacious and prudent children in India.

Children play an important role in building the society as negative things have to be checked and improved and this can be best done by children. They can take care of sanitation by checking whether the garbage is regularly collected from the colony or whether streetlights are functioning properly or unruly people play cards in the park and use abusive language and inform the authorities concerned if anything is wrong.

We can spread awareness among the poor people about health and hygiene and educate our domestic helps and discourage child labour. We can help underprivileged people by giving them old books, clothes or finance their education. Beggars should never be encouraged. Greenery in our surroundings can also increase if we grow more and more trees in our locality. By doing these things, children can contribute in building a better society.

Children determine the future of our country. They can only be assets if they are provided with education and health facilities. When provided with these necessities they can bring a great deal of change in a nation. But what about the children who are not provided with these necessities? Love and care play an important role in the development of a child. If these basic factors are not provided distressed and restless children will create havoc and cause destruction.

Children embedded with good qualities and a strong and powerful personality can be a shining ray of hope for a nation. Hence the future of a country is in its youth’s hands. We hope and pray that these hands treat it tenderly and never let go because the country depends on them. These little hearts full of big dreams are the holders of the key to the future.

Children play a very important role in building our society. Children can take a society or a country to new heights. They can contribute a lot in a society by organising rallies, which are of great help for illiterate people to understand issues better as they cannot read but can see. By this people are also encouraged not to litter the streets. Children should be given proper education so that they can understand the difference between right and wrong, and try not get into bad habits like taking drugs, rash driving etc.

Children are taking out poster campaigns “advising” people “not to smoke” or to “save the girl child” etc. We only need to recognise the power we have. “Lets be the change we want to see in this world.”

Children used as suicide bombers. Their toy is Ak-47s. This is what society has made its children. A child if willing can make a huge impact on society. This is because children have the finest perception of moral and social ethics.

They are pure, not influenced by the impurities of the world. They have that undying optimism which gives each day a new hope,a new meaning.

Our children have the urge to change the existing wrongs,to ignore the differences in society with love and innocence. They have kept their sanity in the ruthless of times. Children nowadays are taking the initiative to help other children who are less privileged and bring them at par with the rest. As Tagore said:

“Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man.”

Children are the future of a society. Children should be given proper education. Students can play a very important role in the field of social work.

During vacations, many organise themselves into groups and tour remote villages trying to educate people there about various issues. Besides they can also emphasise the need of family planning.

Today students actively participate in economic development as well. They even fight against smuggling, illicit distillation of liquor and contribute towards many other social reforms. Nowadays students are well aware of the catastrophic changes prevailing in our environment. They participate in various environmental programmes and take steps to combat climatic changes. The children of today, are in the true sense, the building blocks of a nation.

We say children are the future of India. I think children are India. Without children there is no India and no other nation either. Children have their own opinion, own thoughts and own way of living.

Children are the ones who bring new trends in our thinking process. They are the ones who maintain the cheerful and joyful atmosphere. How would a home look like without children? Quiet. God sent children into this dark world because it needed light that only a child can bring. They don’t worry at all,in their hardest time as well. A hug from a child is the most pleasant thing in this world. Children have the power to bring in change. Children are our most valuable natural resource and we should never steal their childhood.

Children are the future of the nation, they are the base on which the foundation of a strong country is laid. Their contribution to society has always been immense. They are flexible and can be moulded and trained so that they can turn into potential leaders. Their biggest asset is that they are not limited by set ideas or preconceived notions. On the contrary, they are blessed with immense enthusiasm, compassion and energy, which can be converted to great society-building assets.

Children have always been, with the right education, focus and guidance, able to open new avenues towards a modern, intelligent society. They have always protested against evils like dowry, child abuse and crimes against women. They have also sympathised with those less fortunate than themselves and have helped them in as many ways as possible. Bright children are always the most vital elements of a good and strong society.
