Nitya Singh and Prerna Kapur started the Yellow Brick Project last summer out of sheer boredom,when they realised that training at dance schools didn’t give them the freedom to experiment with different dance forms. So they started a summer-workshop-cum-dancing-boot camp called The Yellow Brick Project to bring together dance lovers from various genres. Their production at Kamani auditorium last year,called RazzleDazzle,was a fusion of three fairy tales — Snow White,Cinderella and Rumpelstiltskin — and met with considerable success on the amateur dance circuit. This year,the duo is back with a new production called,How Delhi falls in (and out) of Love,which will be performed again at the Kamani auditorium on July 27 and 28.

The script this year will explore a number of short love stories centered on Delhiites through various dance forms,including salsa,ballet and contemporary and transformed classical Indian dance. “From mushy high school tete-a-tetes and roaring college romances to marriage and divorce; from love in the old-age to the single life in Delhi,the production will have it all,” says their Facebook page.

The audition process is simple — each candidate performs a prepared piece,and is then taught a few counts to perform. They are judged on their ability to infuse their personal style in to the piece. “You don’t have to be a prolific dancer or choreographer to be selected. The whole point is to give a platform to people who love to dance in front of an audience,” says Kapur,20.
