‘Smart boards keep students involved’

“Education is a seed,if it is provided with all supplements such as smart boards,it will grow into a plant bearing fruits. These days education has become a hot topic of discussion. In earlier days,an 80per cent achiever used to be regarded as a topper .But these days students are scoring a perfect 10. Even in competitive exams like IIT-JEE students are scoring 98 percent. As the human brain is evolving day by day ,there is a need for developing resources in order to fulfill the growing demands of the education system and to raise the bar so that there is tough competition among students. The smart board has proved to be a boon for students. Sometimes,students cannot understand things properly just by reading about it. But by visualising the same theory,it becomes easier to understand. The smart board has proved to be an opportunity for the students to score good marks and grades and it helps students to have a stronger grip over concepts. Moreover,if students get confused or forget anything during exams then they can easily reconnect to whatever they have seen on a smart board. Not only can this gadget remove the the habit of rote learning from the education system,but also help in clearing the concepts for students and making their basics stronger.

A smart board is an interactive gadget that allows educators and students to use technology to enhance learning. It is a tool where any file — image or video — is created on a computer and projected on to a white board so that can students can add their inputs to it.

Schools incorporate smart board in their classroom instruction because it allows teachers to move about the room,interact with students and promote student involvement. It appeals to the new learning styles of students who are used to a multimedia age where technology,digital enhancement and video interaction are commonplace. A smart board allows an educator to not only relay information,but also get students involved in the concept that is being discussed. The effectiveness of smart board as a tool to enhance learning is being vouched for by a multitude of educators who have had the opportunity to work with the technology. Despite the positive review given by many educators,some teachers and administrators are hesitant to embrace the technology. Many administrators simply cannot justify or rationalise the amount of money incorporating this technology into every classroom would involve and,secondly,teachers fear they will not be able to learn or use the new technology.

During the past few years,the world has really changed in terms of technology. People are becoming more technology-oriented and so are schools. Gadgets like smart phones,laptops,smart boards,etc,come to the help of people in everyday life. The schools are using smart boards to teach students in order to make lessons more easier and the learning process more fun. The concepts are made more clearer to students through audio-visual aids and smart boards. Schools use smart boards so that the students participate actively in classes. Though this mode of teaching is not very cheap,it is a very creative and artistic way of learning concepts.

Today,students lead an hectic life,filled with both curricular and co-curricular activities. Sometimes,there is not enough time for a student to correctly grasp a particular concept and value point. Smart boards — one of the most effective ways of teaching — can aid students in fast and clear recapitulation of what has been taught in class and leave them time for their other activities. The modules have been excellently designed to cope with the NCERT curriculum and give students the important value points,MCQ’s,worksheets,etc. Moreover,it helps us to keep up with new technologies and globalisation. Other software such as Mimio Pads are one of the most effective teaching methods I have ever seen. To sum up,new trends in technological advancement such as smart boards are a ray of hope in making learning more fun.

Research indicates that students respond to displayed visuals better than textual elements.

These days,almost every school has smart boards to help children get better grades. According to me,this works beautifully. Smart boards are a boon,both for the teacher and students. They are great for conducting demonstrations and are easy to use. They are interactive and help keep students engrossed. Examples can be shown,rather than told in a monotone by teachers. The intake of knowledge is much more when children see visuals,as they are easy to remember and can be related to. I think it is very wise of schools to use smart boards.

There is a recent trend of adopting smart classes in each and every schools of our country. A great revolution has been evolved which is transforming the traditional system of blackboard,duster and chalks.

Now the question arises what is a smart class? It is the creation of an appropriate environment to make a young generations into smarter citizens. According to Rozana Sani,children who are shy tend to become engaged in learning when they are working with smart boards. A smart board is made up of a computer,smart board software,an interactive white board and a projector. With the touch of a finger,students can control applications,navigate the internet and write,change,move around and save content.

The whiteboard is a touchscreen and when learning with a smart-board,students are involved in the learning process,rather then just listening and taking notes.

Taking notes is distracting and does not allow the students to utilise to their full potential. Teachers are able to send the notes to the students at a later time so they can review these on their own,but while the lessons are going on,the students are engaged in learning. A smart board can be used to enhance all subjects areas especially Maths. Children feel comfortable using technology and it is the teacher’s responsibility to keep up with the changing trends.

According to leading academician Judy Ngao,smart boards are also beneficial for students with learning disabilities. The only downside of using smart board technology in schools is the expense. One benefit of using smart boards for children with disabilities is that it helps makes the keyboard larger and transform it into a touchscreen. This makes it easier for students to see and manage content independently.

This makes it easier for students with bad hand and eye coordination to learn a concept better. This is also beneficial in a classroom setting because it keeps a child’s interest engaged when compared to textbook learning. Having objects being moved around on the whiteboard and colorful visuals keep helps retain a child’s attention much longer than a lesson without a smart board.

Smart board is the latest innovation in the field of education which facilitates the students to group the concepts with the help of animation,story boards,assignments and other techniques.

Smart boards are gaining popularity these days as more and more concepts in subjects like mathematics and science require animation,which clearly depicts a concept for better understanding.

Classroom teaching cannot show the actual working of certain instruments and is also time consuming. Smart boards enable the students to solve online assignments and understand concepts better. These assignments include visual questions and HOTS questions. For nursery class students,smart boards are more interesting as rhymes and other concepts can be presented in a more interesting way. In a class which is equipped with smart boards,questions are presented in various categories like conceptual questions,knowledge-based questions,HOTS questions and analytical questions which helps the students understand a particular concept more deeply. Creativity of students improves with smart boards as activities and project help improve their overall knowledge. Smart board systems comprises a computer,white boards,remotes,colorful gadgets and a good sound system. It makes lesson interesting and also help engrave what is taught more deeply into students’ minds.

A smart board is an interactive whiteboard that allows teachers and students to interact in a better way. Teachers can now show students any file,document,powerpoint presentations,and images and videos. It is a tool where teachers and students can write with their hands or the smart board pen directly onto images on the screen. These images can be saved,including the added annotations,and stored for further instruction or review sessions.

The smart board is an interactive whiteboard that uses touch detection for user input – eg,scrolling,right mouse-click – in the same way as a normal PC input device such as a mouse or keyboard. A projector is used to display slides and images on an interactive whiteboard,which then acts as a large touchscreen. The smart board draws upon the new learning styles of students who have grown up in a multimedia age where technology,digital enhancement and video interaction are commonplace.

Despite the positive points of smart board,some teachers and administrators are hesitant to fully embrace the technology.

The amount involved in installing the system is very high. The teachers also fear they will not be able to effectively learn or navigate the technology.

A huge amount of money gets wasted if the teachers are not able to cope up with upcoming technologies like smart boards. Looking at the results,interviews,and studies one thing becomes clear— proper training of teachers is crucial.

Teachers need to receive training on hardware and software and implementation. A survey done among teachers recently showed that training was an area of concern. Schools must ensure that when receiving funds for new technology that a proper amount is set apart for training,so the technology is utilised in a way that is beneficial for students.

“Smart boards enhance the potential of a student’s learning and comprehension. The interactive technology allows students to move beyond the traditional parameters of a classroom and engage in hands-on learning. In my opinion,smart boards serve as a model for future classroom instruction.

SMART board’s allows students and teachers to move about the classroom,invovle with each other and greatly promote student involvement.

Smart board allows one to deliver material in a way that students are more used to seeing at home or in environments outside of school. It draws upon the new learning styles of students who have grown up in a multimedia age where technology,digital enhancement and video interaction are commonplace.

Also,it allows an educator to not only relay information,but also get students involved in the manipulation of the ideas.

The smart board is effect ive in engaging children with multiple learning styles as it incorporates visual,tactile and auditory learning into each lesson. So it helps make learning fun.
