Security guard in North Delhi dies after falling into govt school water tank
The body of the security guard was found on Friday morning after the guard deployed for the morning shift arrived at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya.

A security guard died after falling into the water tank of a government school in the Inderlok area of North Delhi on Thursday night, the police said.
According to the Delhi Police, the incident happened around 9.30 pm when the victim, Dharmendra, 50, as part of a routine exercise, climbed up the tank of Government Sarvodaya Vidyalaya using a ladder and took a peek inside.
“He leaned forward and then accidentally slipped inside the tank. Since no one was present at the school at that time, the victim couldn’t be saved. Due to the high level of water in the tank, he fainted inside and later died,” a police official said.
The body was discovered on Friday morning after the guard deployed for the morning shift arrived at the school. On reaching the school, the guard tried contacting Dharmendra as the school gate was locked from inside, but his phone was switched off, the police said.
Dharmendra, a resident of Sarai Rohilla, had been working as a night-shift security guard for the past five years at the Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Inderlok locality of Shashtri Nagar.
The guard then contacted the school authorities and Dharmendra’s family members were also informed. During an intense search by the school staff and the family members, Dharmendra’s body was spotted inside the tank.
“The Sarai Rohilla police station was alerted and the police personnel took his body to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital,” an officer said.
The CCTV footage of the incident showed Dharmendra carrying a ladder towards the school tank, placing it against the wall of the tank, and then climbing it to reach the top. He was not seen in any CCTV cameras after that, the police said.
