Scolded for not studying, girl jumps in front of train

Her mother scolded her for browsing social networking sites on her phone instead of studying for the exam.

A student of Class X jumped in front of a train at the Gurgaon railway station on Saturday night after she was allegedly scolded for not studying for the Board exam.

Police said the student left home at night and went to the station. Her scooty, which was found parked near the railway tracks, has been recovered by police on Sunday morning.

According to police, Diksha Singh (14) lived in Krishna Colony, Old Gurgaon, with her family. On Saturday, her mother scolded her for browsing social networking sites on her phone instead of studying for the exam, police said.

According to police, Diksha left home in a huff around 9 pm on Saturday and her mother called police about an hour later saying that the girl was missing her phone was switched off. It was not until midnight that police received reports of a body being found near the railway tracks.

The railway police force (RPF) received a call from a driver regarding the body. After investigation, police found the scooty and identified her from vehicle documents found in it. The body was handed over to her family members after a post-mortem examination was conducted on Sunday, police said.
