Amity International School,Noida,organized a special session on April 20 to introduce its Middle School to the parents of class VI students,building on the tradition set forward by the Amity chairperson to make change management more inclusive.

The orientation programme,conceptualised by chairperson Dr Amita Chauhan,sought to provide parents with an insight into the new curriculum and sensitise them about the changes their wards might face in the Middle Wing. Principal Renu Singh stressed the importance of discipline and punctuality and urged the parents to motivate their children. Headmistress Rashmi Grover focused on the curriculum changes and the school website Amitranet.

Dr Shakuntala Dawesar,the chief guest,spoke to parents about the transitional phase in the lives of their children,and the need of parental involvement to help children cope with the change.

Summer Fields School celebrates World Heritage Day

Summer Fields School,Gurgaon,celebrated The World Heritage Day on 18th April,2013. It was a day of reflection on who we are,where we come from and where we are heading to.The students were divided according to their houses to express their creativity. The display boards were decorated with posters,slogans and write ups.The rooms echoed with sounds of traditional dance steps and folk songs. The school echoed with Nukkad Nataks and skits. Traditional cuisine was served. It was a team work and a joint effort by the students. The sole aim was to protect and conserve our Heritage and its invaluable assets as well as to draw attention to its vulnerability. Yasmin Contractor,the principal,welcomed the honourable guests Dr Kiran Banerji ,Yasmin Khan and Anjali Saran. Contractor dwelled upon the significance of restoring and preserving our rich cultural heritage. It was with her untiring efforts and guidance that the staff and students produced such a spectacular show.

Investiture ceremony at Delhi Public School,Rohini,a solemn affair

The Investiture ceremony to induct students in the School cabinet was a solemn affair at Delhi Public School,Rohini. It started with the lighting of the lamp by chief guest Rashmi Gahlot,Deputy Director,Directorate of Education,District NW (B) Delhi.   The principal,Rita Sen in her address emphasized that the secret of leadership lay in knowing one’s responsibilities,leading by example and cultivating qualities of empathy and compassion. She also congratulated the newly elected cabinet and motivated them to become the true leaders of tomorrow.

Gahlot urged the young leaders to imbibe the qualities of honesty,integrity,sharing and caring in their growing years and uphold the high standards set by the school.

The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

DPS,Mathura Road,marks Earth Day with the theme ‘Future Earth’

Delhi Public School,Mathura Road,in collaboration with Heart Care Foundation of India (HCFI) a national NGO,and supported by Ministry of Earth Sciences,observed the World Earth Day on April 23,2013. The theme of the event was ‘Future Earth’. The Chief Guest for the event was Additional Commissioner of MCD South-Delhi D N Singh. The special assembly was graced by chairman of DPS Society Ashok Chandra ,chairman of DPS,Mathura Road and Vice Chairman DPS Society Rear Admiral M M Chopra,President HCFI Padma Shri Dr K K Aggarwal,Principal of DPS Mathura Road M I Hussain,Vice Principal Kusum Kathuria,members of PTA Executive and other dignitaries.

In his address,M I Hussain welcomed the guests of honour and thanked them attending the event. He complimented the students for putting in their time and effort.

Rear Admiral M M Chopra spoke about governing,preserving and sustaining the environment.

Ramjas School,Pusa Road,holds orientation programme for Class VI

The orientation programme of Class VI students of Ramjas School,Pusa Road,began with a warm welcome by principal Mohini Bindra. She proudly informed parents about the remarkable achievements made by the school in different fields. The school choir sang a prayer,which was followed by a presentation aimed at apprising parents of the code of conduct to be followed by the students. In an interactive session,parents shared their views on parenting and the various ways that could be adopted to facilitate the holistic development of the child. The programme concluded with the recitation of a poem and the familiarisation of students with their new teachers.

Mount Carmel School stresses on three ‘R’s of conservation

On the occasion of the Earth Day,the students and teachers of Mount Carmel School,Anand Niketan,organised a small function.The honourable guest for the occasion was Jitender Singh Kamyotra who is a serving as Member Secretary (CEO) of Central Pollution Control Board. The event commemorated with a prayer by principal Dr V K Williams followed by a few enlightening words by Kamyotra. The newly elected Eco club prefects were given badges and students who excelled in value education in the previous academic year were also awarded.

Gauri,the Earth Day Mascot,made everyone aware of the significance of the three R’s (Reduce,Reuse and Recycle). Vidhi and Akshat took us to the world of animals through their poems. The students of class IV presented the Biblical overview of God’s word on creation. Students of Class X,along with their teachers,went to the neighbourhood on a cleanliness drive.

Students hold exhibition of eco-friendly models in DPS,RK Puram

Earth Day was celebrated at DPS,R K Puram,with great enthusiasm on April 23,2013. Celebrations started with a special assembly. An Exhibition of eco-friendly models was also inaugurated. Children provided innovative solutions to the problem of pollution through their models. The best entries of T-shirt painting,slogan writing,SMS writing,rangoli and photography competitions were displayed. A sapling plantation drive was carried out in the school premises by the students and teachers along with principal Dr D R Saini,vice principal Shobha Mehta,headmistresses Vanita Sehgal and Anita Singh,head of the biology department,S K Arora,Gita Panday and Ranjana Singh from Hope Hall Foundation School and the in-charge of the environment club at DPS R K Puram Niva Chhonkar.

Training in self defence for women at R D Rajpal School,Dwarka

The need for women to acquire self-defence skills looms large in the present scenario. It is quite heartening that Delhi Police have taken up the campaign of to train girls and women in self defence. A team of senior officers from the police station in Sector 9,Dwarka,organised workshops on techniques of self defense for the teachers and girls students of R D Rajpal School. The participants found that it is the technique that matters,not the physical strength. They were taught how to use their presence of mind and unnerve the attackers. The trainer emphasised that women should never think that they are the weaker sex. The workshops proved to be rich sources of strength for all the participants.

Dance performance at Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura

Renowned Mohinyattam dancer,Deepti Omchery performed in Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura under the aegis of SPIC MACAY.

The students of Class X were enthralled by the interactive session that followed.

Omchery is currently working with the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts,Delhi University. She is singer and dancer,being well-accomplished and talented in both the fields. Omchery has performed extensively,regaling audiences all over the globe. The renowned artiste invited some students to practice the basic footwork of Mohiniyattam. Patiently,she explained the difference between Kathakali and Mohiniyattam,as both the dance forms have originated in Kerala. She was ably assisted by her team of accompanying artistes on the Veena,Sitar,Vedeca and Mridangam.
